Hi! My name is Maaike Nieuwenhuizen, and I am a research assistant in the Language Development Department. Here, I help with various fascinating studies on the language development of young children. You might run into me, for example, if you decide to participate in the ‘Taal in het Babybrein’ study, where we follow your child's language development over a longer period. We start this journey when your baby is only 6 months old because even at that age, your child is already actively learning language!

In addition to carrying out research experiments, I am also involved in setting up new projects, processing and analysing research results, and scheduling appointments. So I may reach out to you to tell you about a study your child could participate in. Hopefully, we will see you at the BRC soon!
